I thought utils.pm test wasn't being run as make test was printing an
error message that utils couldn't be found. I fixed it only to realize
that the usils test was probably run in a 2nd pass that I just didn't
notice.
Anyhow I believe this patch makes things clearer. Is there any other
reason for using the previous method?
