With d4c5730464 git snapshot on Debian Wheezy and testing against an ejabberd 2.1.10 works like a charm:

```check_jabber -6 -H foo -A -e "<?xml version='1.0'?><stream:stream" -e "xmlns='jabber:client'" -e "xmlns:stream='http://etherx.jabber.org/streams'"```
```JABBER OK - 0.002 second response time on port 5222|time=0.001840s;;;0.000000;10.000000```
