[Nagiosplug-help] Number of processes

Yes, a seperate process is launched for every host or service check.
This behaviour is by design. 

However, in very rare occasions you can have two main Nagios processes
running, which could lead to funny things happening. If you have any
doubts, just stop Nagios and verify whether all processes have exited.
