[Nagiosplug-help] checking for ping... /bin/ping

I'm trying to compile the nagios plugins(nagiosplug-1.3-beta1).

It starts off fine until it gets to this point, then it just hangs there 
(during ./configure). I can run ping manually with no problem. I'm using 
Mandrake 8.2.

Any Idea's ?
