[Nagiosplug-help] check_udp help

Can anyone tell me how to use check_udp? I've tried it with the syntax the help flag suggests but it still won't work. 

For example, I try:

#./check_udp -H 10.10.10.17 -p 4000
Host name was not supplied
Usage: check_udp -H <host_address> [-p port] [-w warn_time] [-c crit_time]
         [-e expect] [-s send] [-t to_sec] [-v]
#


It seems to not be understanding my host address argument. Am I using some wrong syntax or is check_udp broken? This is from the plugins v1.3.0 tar ball.
