[Nagiosplug-help] getting the check_dhcp pluggin to work

hi,

i am trying to get the check_dhcp plugin working and am not having much luck. so far i am not using it from within nagios just running it from a command line but i am getting this error:

"Error: Could not bind to DHCP socket (port 68)! Check your privileges..."

i am running it as root and ran the make command as root also.

any ideas as to why i am getting thi error and what i can do to resolve it would be much appreiceated.
