[Nagiosplug-help] Nagios and syslog

I use a tool called swatch, basically you setup syslog to report to log server then swatch deamon scans the logged messages and emails admin with alerts specified in a config file.

Hi, 

Is there a possibility to monitor /var/log/messages for keywords e.g. "zone transfer failed" with nagios? 
Same thing for windows, is there a chance to monitor the syslog with nagios?
