[Nagiosplug-help] check_ping warnings and core dump

On my newly updated nagios 2.0b3 and plug-ins 1.4 check_ping 1.42.
I am getting quite a lot of:

Warning: Return code of 139 for check of service 'Ping' on host [eventually every host name] was out of bounds.

There is a check_ping.core dumped in the bin directory every few minutes.
I can manually run check_ping -H 192.168.1.1 -w 500.0,20% -c 800.0,60% -p 1
