Hey all,
I'm a fairly new Nagios user, I just finished setting it up and getting everything working
properly (or at least it appears to be), and I now need to move on to writing some custom
plug ins to monitor custom built applications. Right now I'm just trying to get some direction
to maybe a site that could explain in detail about writing custom plug-ins, or maybe even
modifying the existing plug-ins somehow to be used with a different app. For example, I have a
server that runs an app which listens on port 8888 that a client can connect to to receive the data. I'd like for Nagios to be able to connect to the server on that port, issue one command, and then just take the first line of data or so to verify that the service is functional and punctual (time sensitive information), then to end the connection, it just needs to do a ctrl-] sequence.
I'm not looking for anyone to do the work for me, but any direction is much appreciated. I'm not
a programmer by any means, so please keep that in mind :) Thanks in advance for any kind of help.
Jim
