[Nagiosplug-help] check_load output error..

Hi all,
   Its my first post and am a new Nagios user. Have it configured and
running on FreeBSD 5.4. I use the check_load plugin to check load for a
system in my network. But the loads are different than those output by
top/uptime commands. Why is this ? Or did I do anything wrong ?

BTW, versions - nagios-2.0.b2 , nagios-plugins-1.4_1
