Hello,
I am having an interesting problem with nrpe. I have 2 boxes that are
both Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 3.
nrpe runs beautifully on one box but I get this error on the second:
---log start---
Nov 3 15:22:54 pasow1op nrpe[2198]: Starting up daemon
Nov 3 15:22:54 pasow1op nrpe[2198]: Warning: Daemon is configured to
accept command arguments from clients!
Nov 3 15:22:54 pasow1op nrpe[2198]: Listening for connections on port 5879
Nov 3 15:22:54 pasow1op nrpe[2198]: Allowing connections from:
127.0.0.1,172.31.42.134
Nov 3 15:23:14 pasow1op nrpe[2202]: refused connect from 127.0.0.1
(127.0.0.1)
---log end---
Normally I have allow_from commented out but I uncommented it and added
the IP for testing purposes to make sure that it "should" allow the IP
of localhost. You can see in the log above that on one line it's
allowing the loopback IP but on the very next line it's refusing.
Here is the command I am using to test:
check_nrpe -H localhost -p 5879 -n
I am running nrpe in daemon mode as such:
/opt/bcs/sbin/nrpe -c /opt/bcs/etc/nagios/nrpe.cfg -d -n
The configurations are exactly the same on both boxes so why isn't this
working on the one box?
Please help...
Thanks,
-Michael Beachler-
