Why don't you just have NRPE listen on any addresses (0.0.0.0) and just
add a host in Nagios for the shared IP where you can monitor the disk
usage (and anything else that's in failover)?

I have quite a similar setup (With a SAN though, not DRDB) and that's
how I did it.
