[Nagiosplug-help] Compiling issues (failures) in check_http (nagios-plugins HEAD-2007-05-09 - 1.4.7 and 1.4.9)

Hello,
 
This may be machine specific, but I was able to compile nagios 2.5 and the
plugins (back in July 06) with no problems on this system.  No upgrades of
patches have been done other than OpenSSL 0.9.8e and that upgrade was done
after I noticed the ssl failures in check_http.
 
System: Linux linux-nms 2.4.21-40.ELsmp #1 SMP Thu Feb 2 22:22:39 EST 2006
i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux.
The system is a pretty plain jane version of RHEL 3.0 (I don't remember
which update maybe 2 or 3).
 
The error I have received on any new plug-in packages is as follows.
 
Thank you in advance for any assistance in getting this problem resolved.
In the mean time, my old plug-in works fine.
