[Nagiosplug-help] check_ifoperstatus

Hi
I'm trying to use nagios to monitor sub interfaces on a cisco 7600
the check command it this
check_ifoperstatus -H aaaaa -C ******** -d GigabitEthernet3/2.2
but when I run call this I get the following response
"UNKNOWN: could not retrive ifdescr snmpkey - 0-0"
but if I run the command just to check the physical interface
check_ifoperstatus -H aaaaa -C ******** -d GigabitEthernet3/2
I get the correct response .
I really need to try and this working using this existing plugin
Any help or input would be great
