check_jabber does a little more that that. Beside the port, it change
the send, expect and quit strings (and sets -j) to make sure jabber is
responding properly.

You can search for "jabber" in the check_tcp source to find the exact
parameter, but the recommended way to do this would be to symlink it:

$ cd /path/to/plugins
$ sudo ln -s check_tcp check_jabber
