I ended up symlinking the libs in a different place, as a quick fix, 
then everything worked just fine.

But this reminds me of something else.

There's an SSL-related error while compiling NRPE on Solaris 10, it's 
fixed like this:

Maybe I need to do something similar when compiling the plugins, then 
there won't be any problems with check_smtp. I'll investigate it if I 
have some time to spare.
