<P DIR=LTR><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Calibri">We are setting up Nagios to store all its data into MYSQL Cluster environment. We modified all references of MYISAM engine to NDBCLUSTER in the mysql.sql file that comes with the ndoutils-1.4b8 package. After we ran the ./installdb script, it created some tables but not all and generated this error message:</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P DIR=LTR><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT COLOR="#000000" FACE="Calibri">ERROR 1118 (42000) at line 412: Row size too large. The maximum row size for the used table type, not counting BLOBs, is 8052. You have to change some columns to TEXT or BLOBs</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P DIR=LTR><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT COLOR="#000000" FACE="Calibri">According to the MySQL docs, there are two differences between varchar and text (besides how the data is stored)-</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P DIR=LTR><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT COLOR="#000000" FACE="Calibri">- </FONT></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> <FONT COLOR="#000000" FACE="Calibri">For indexes on TEXT columns, you must specify an index prefix length. For CHAR and VARCHAR, a prefix length is optional. </FONT></SPAN></P>
<P DIR=LTR><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT COLOR="#000000" FACE="Calibri">- </FONT></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> <FONT COLOR="#000000" FACE="Calibri">TEXT columns cannot have DEFAULT values.</FONT></SPAN></P>
