If you have SNMP available on this box take a look at the plugin "check_snmp_procs". Works fine for me to monitor processes on remote machines with minimum and maximum thresholds..

I have an application that runs on a Win2k box that launches word and then
closes it. Occasionally it will have an error and launch multiple
instances
of word. I would like Nagios to be able to check to see if there is more
than one instance on winword.exe running, if there is have it alert.

I have used the process state from NSclient, but that won't help with
multiple instance, at least that I can see.
Anyone have any ideas?
