1title: Version 1.4.15 Released
2date: 2010-07-27
3---
4
5The Nagios Plugin Development Team are proud to announce the latest Nagios
6Plugins release. This release contains several enhancements, including rate
7calculation in `check_snmp`. There are also lots of bug fixes. Thanks to all
8the contributors who raised issues or provided patches.<end-of-teaser>
9
10You can get the tarball from:
11<https://sourceforge.net/projects/nagiosplug/files/>
12
13## Enhancements
14
15* New `check_ntp_peer` `-m` and `-n` options to check the number of usable time sources ("truechimers")
16* New `check_disk_smb` `-a` option which allows for specifying the IP address of the remote server
17* New `check_radius` `-N` option which allows for specifying the value of the NAS-IP-Address attribute
18* New `check_snmp` `--rate` option to store differences between invocations. Saves state in PREFIX/var/{plugin}
19* `check_snmp` `-l` label option now also changes the perfdata label. See [Warnings](#Warnings)
20* `check_snmp` has an `--invert-search` option which reverses status of the string and regexp searches
21* `check_http` now displays the missing search string and the URL in the output when failed
22* Updated Nagios::Plugin perl module
23* Updated gnulib to June 2010
24
25## Fixes
26
27* Fix `check_ircd` binding to wrong interface
28* Add proxy-authorization option to `check_http`
29* `check_icmp` now increment the sequence counter in each packet
30* Fix usage of repeated `-o` options in `check_snmp`
31* Try to detect arguments passed via `--with-ping[6]-command` and set options accordingly
32* Fix memory leak in `check_http` for large pages
33* Fix compilation with GCC 2.96
34* Fix regression introduced in #1867716 where partially valid performance strings would not be printed anymore
35* Fix regression in `check_http` ssl checks on some servers - make SNI an option
36* Fix guest mode support in `check_disk_smb`
37* Fix `check_disk_smb` and `check_ircd` failures when run via ePN
38* `check_ldap` now allows for specifying an empty LDAP base
39* Fix compilation error of pst3 in Solaris 8
40* Fix `check_radius` returning OK on unexpected results
41* Fix translations when extra-opts aren't enabled
42* Fix parsing of multi-line strings in `check_snmp` (broken in 1.4.14) and enhance output in such case
43* Fix detection of pst3 64-bit compile flags with Sun CC
44* Fix `cmd_run` overwriting the environment, which would break some commands that needed it
45* Allow `check_ifstatus` to accept version=2c - used to only allow version=2 (Brian Landers)
46* Fix examples in `check_disk`, where it implied was possible to suffix unit values to warn/crit parameters
47
48## Warnings
49
50* Updated developer documentation to say that performance labels should not have an equals sign or single quote in the label
51* `check_http` 1.4.14 introduced SSL SNI support - you now have to enable it explicitly with `--sni`
52* `check_snmp` `-l` label option is also used for the performance label. This could change history from previous uses

1title: Ton Voon Resigns as Team Leader
2date: 2011-11-04
3---
4
5Due to personal reasons, I am resigning from being the team leader for the
6Nagios Plugins.<end-of-teaser>
7
8It's almost 7 years to the day since I started as team leader and I've been
9honoured to have had a great team of people that have helped with coding and
10translations and responding to the mailing lists. I'm particularly proud of
11the Nagios::Plugin perl module, originally created by Gavin Carr, and some of
12the fantastic tests added into the plugins code, started by Nathan Vonnahme.
13Also Benoit Mortier did a great job on setting up the translations framework.
14I also recall, when I first joined the team 9 years ago, racing with Matthew
15Kent to get the most CVS commits!
16
17Other team members that have contributed over my tenure include Peter Bray,
18Sean Finney, Ethan Galstad, Subhendu Ghosh, Stanley Hopcroft, Harper Mann and
19Michael Wirtgen - thanks to all of them for their valuable time to make the
20Nagios Plugins better.
21
22I especially want to thank Thomas Guyot-Sionnest, Matthias Eble and Holger
23Weiss. Not only have they spent the most hours improving all aspects of this
24project (the gnulib integration is just awesome!), but they've been the best
25guys to work with: thanks for keeping me sane, encouraging me when you think I
26am right and for being honest enough to tell me when I am wrong. I owe you
27all a big drink next time we meet.
28
29Thanks to all the great community contributions and all the email messages
30that have provoked, inspired and enlightened.
31
32Holger will be taking over the responsibility of team leader in the next
33chapter of the Nagios Plugins.
34
35Regards,
36Ton
