# How do I compile the plugins?
To compile version `2.x` of the plugins, you run:
$ gzip -dc monitoring-plugins-2.x.tar.gz | tar -xf -
$ cd monitoring-plugins-2.x
$ ./configure
$ make
You can then [install the plugins][installation].
